Sitting it out in Lumsden
Thursday, June 15, 2006
Wendy will be resting up at a B&B in Lumsden for a day or so, as the remnants of Tropical Storm Alberto dissipate. Forecast winds are in the 40-70 knot range out of the NE, not the best for open water paddling. Cape Freels' vicious shoals apparently presented no obstacle to our Wendy, even though they extend 15 km out to sea. Considering there's nothing between Freels and Ireland but spray and foam, this must be one of the most inhospitable paddle venues on this side of the Atlantic. Well done Wendy.

Ooh Alberto! 'Resting up' probably means you're spending every waking moment making new discoveries! When you do venture forth, you can do so with new gusto! You invincible woman, Wendy! You're really getting there. You're always in my thoughts, Wendy. luv,Kathy
Don't go out in the surf today,
It isn't the day to play!
Go take a walk
Go read, go talk,
Go surf the net instead.
Then all rested and fed,
With the seas turned calm
Go launch that boat
And be on your way.
Hurrah!

Surely you must need a little rest now Wendy. Hope you make out ok with torn neck seal.

You're doing really well Wendy!! Keep it going girl! I wish I could paddle a similar path to what you are doing, but I can't get the time off from work-if I could, I would be paddling with ya through the cold, sun, spray, wind and blisters! You will remember this journey for a long time to come! Hope to hook up with ya this fall for a paddle!
Neck seals are causing you more grief than they should.
You might try getting a divers gasket put on there. They are a little costly ( $135.00 installed + -) but they are thicker and you can make sure it fits you comfortably before installing it.
Just a thought.
