Wondering what sort of gear Justine uses on and off the water?

	I use a variety of Valley sea kayaks & Northshore Kayaks. The Northshore Atlantic LV is a fun, responsive yet stable kayak for surfing and playing in tidal races. The Gemini SP is really responsive and manoeuvrable for surfing. On expeditions I have used both the Nordkapp and the Etain 17.5.
	I have been part of the Kokatat pro team for close to a decade & am always impressed with the comfort, fit & design of their gear. Kokatat’s dry suit with a drop seat is brilliant and keeps me dry and warm. I recently came back from a day of rescue training with bone dry thermals which is fantastic. The new 50% merino wool thermals are my new favourite thermals – comfy, lightweight and warm.When it’s hot, I often wear the kokatat sealskin trousers, shorts, and innercore layers.
	Mitchell Blades are made in Chester, UK. They are lightweight but tough and beautifully made paddles. I use the Atlantis or Bombora blades with a crank shaft and adjustable feather and length.
	I used the same fantastic Hilleberg Tarra tent for over 200 days of camping over a 6 year period. It held up to the strong and gusty winds in Patagonia, around Ireland and 2500km along the Aleutian island chain. I use a one-person Soulo tent when alone, which is lightweight and well designed. It kept my safe in Antarctica in 2014 & 2017. The Hilleberg Tarp 10 and Tarp 5 are great strong but lightweight tarps.
	I love ortlieb dry bags for their combination of flexibility and durability. Bulky & big dry bags take up a lot of space in a kayak, making it harder to pack. Ortlieb dry bags come from as small as 3 litres. My favourite bags are the aqua cam, which I carry all my valuable electronics in & the duffel bag for carrying all my luggage when travelling. 	Berghaus provided Justine and Sarah with warm, functional and stylish clothing for the Aleutian islands journey. The Mirgin La II goretex jacket is fantastic, as are their water-repellant down jackets.
	Reed make comfortable, light, waterproof kayak clothing & toasty warm thermals. They also have great accessories including emergency spare hatch covers. I often use a Reed spraydeck and cockpit cover as they are light and dry quickly.
	What sleeping bag do you take when space in your kayak is at a premium, it’s cold and wet!? The Exped water bloc sleeping bags solve that problem by being down (and therefore toasty warm) AND waterproof. Justine smugly took one to Antarctica and the Aleutians. Exped down mats are also fantastically comfortable and warm & they make a good range of dry bags.
	I used the same ICOM waterproof radio for 8 years before it finally stopped working reliably. That’s pretty good for thousands of miles of salty journeys and numerous immersions. I really wanted another ICOM radio and have chosen the ICOM IC-M25 as it’s waterproof, submersible and can be charged via USB.
	I’ve used an Optimus Nova Plus stove for all my long expeditions since 2013. The stove can simmer or cook on full power. With safety in mind, it has a thick fuel pipe and the jet can be unclogged simply by waving a magnet underneath it. I love the optimus pan set and kettle. The neoprene pan cover means you can keep one pan warm while the other one is in use.
	Julbo sunglasses are great quality. I use polarised sunglasses on the sea and chameleon-lenses on land. These change density providing more protection from the suns rays when it’s brighter. These are distributed by Lyon Outdoor in the UK.
	Natural Balance Foods are a little young British company devoted to increasing world happiness with healthier snacks, humour and helpfulness.
